New YorkIncome Shares Model

New York uses the Income Shares model under the Child Support Standards Act (CSSA). Both parents' combined income up to the statutory cap (currently $163,000/year) is multiplied by a flat percentage: 17% for one child, 25% for two, 29% for three, 31% for four, 35% for five+. Each parent pays their proportional share. Above the cap, the court has discretion.
